In February 2002, "Cody" passed
the Bronze Award for the Kennel Club's Good Citizen Dog Scheme. For six months Judith has taken Cody to the Thornbury Dog Training Club which meets weekly in Alveston, S Gloucestershire. Eight dogs were tested by the local
dog warden to demonstrate their obedience and to test their owner's knowledge of
basic dog care. All the participants passed and the owners received certificates and
dog rosettes.
The award involves completing ten exercises including controlled walking on a lead
through people and dogs and at a gate, down stay for one minute, recall and
grooming the dog and presenting for examination. It also requires knowledge of the
responsibilities of dog ownership. "Cody" is now working towards his Silver award
which covers some more advanced exercises. He enjoys a social get together with
his classmates and clearly looks forward to his visits to school. |
